Our Home

San Jose State

San José is a city defined by innovation, diversity, and academic excellence. CAPE is proud to call San José State University our home, a campus with deep historical roots and a strong commitment to research, learning, and community engagement. We are pleased to welcome you to San José and invite you to explore venue information, campus maps, and local attractions while you stay with us. For attendees interested in health and movement, SJSU’s Department of Kinesiology offers a broad range of physical education and activity courses that prepares students to become the next leaders in physical education.

San Francisco

San Francisco is very accessible from San José being roughly an hour’s drive. This makes it an easy day outing or a short visit. Once you arrive, the city offers a lively mix of classic attractions and urban experiences: you can admire the Golden Gate Bridge, explore the expansive Golden Gate Park, stroll around the waterfront and historic Fisherman’s Wharf, or enjoy world-class museums, restaurants, and scenic bay views.

The laid back beach town of Santa Cruz is only 30-45 from San Jose making it a great destination for a day trip to the see the Pacific Ocean. Once there, you’ll find classic seaside fun at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, one of California’s oldest oceanfront amusement parks with historic rides and games, plus miles of beaches perfect for walking, surfing, or relaxing. The area also offers outdoor experiences from coastal parks and trails to family-friendly museums and local dining in the vibrant downtown and waterfront areas.

Big Basin Redwoods State Park

If you are meeting us San Jose, a trip to Big Basin Redwoods State Park is an essential addition to your itinerary before you leave. Located less than an hour from the city, the park is home to the tallest trees in the world! Ancient coast redwoods that rise more than 300 feet and create a landscape found in very few places on Earth. Walking among these towering giants offers shaded trails, and a sense of scale that is both peaceful and awe-inspiring.
